We take the protection of your personal data seriously. We process personal data only within the framework of applicable data protection law, in particular the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). Personal data is information that can identify you directly or indirectly, for example your name, email address or IP address.
3. Visiting our website and hosting
Our website is provided through the services of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you visit our website, the following technical data in particular may be processed:
- IP address and time of access
- Pages and files requested
- Browser type, operating system and technical connection data
- Information used to detect and prevent abusive access
This processing serves to provide the website, to ensure its stability and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Cloudflare may also process data outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred to third countries, the required data protection safeguards must be ensured. 4. Contacting us
If you contact us by email, we process the data you send us, in particular your name, your email address and the content of your message. Processing takes place solely to handle your enquiry and, where applicable, to carry out pre-contractual measures, based on Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR. We delete your data once it is no longer needed to handle your enquiry, unless statutory retention obligations or other legitimate grounds prevent deletion.
5. Membership and member administration
When you apply for membership, we process the data required for admission and administration. This may include name, address, date of birth, contact details, type of membership and, where applicable, details of family members and payment data. For minor members we also process the necessary details of their legal guardians. Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR to establish and perform the membership and on Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR to comply with legal obligations. Member data is generally stored for the duration of the membership and deleted afterwards, unless statutory retention obligations or legitimate grounds for further storage apply. Data is disclosed only where necessary for the administration of the association, required by law or otherwise lawful.
6. Volunteering and events
If you register as a volunteer or sign up for an event, we process the details needed for organisation, in particular name, contact details, interests, availability and, where applicable, age-related information. Depending on the specific purpose, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR or, for voluntary additional information, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. The data is not used for other purposes unless there is a separate legal basis.
7. Photos and videos
Photos and videos may be taken at our events for documentation and public relations. Where required, we obtain prior consent before publishing identifiable individual images. Special protection requirements apply to the publication of photos and videos of minors. We obtain the required consent of legal guardians and, where appropriate, also take the child’s consent into account. Consent that has been given can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.
8. Cookies and external services
Our website may use technically necessary cookies or comparable technologies where they are required for secure operation or to provide functions you have expressly requested. Non-essential cookies or comparable technologies, in particular for marketing, external media or certain analytics functions, are used only in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
We currently do not use any analytics, marketing or tracking services. Fonts, the events calendar and all other content are delivered from our own website; no external fonts, maps or videos are embedded.
9. Recipients and international transfers
Personal data may be passed on to technical service providers, in particular hosting and email providers, where necessary for the purposes described. For transfers to countries outside the European Economic Area we comply with Art. 44 et seq. GDPR.

11. Obligation to provide data and automated decisions
Providing personal data when simply visiting our website is generally not mandatory. Certain details are, however, required to handle an enquiry, to conclude a membership or to register for events. There is no automated decision-making, including profiling, under Art. 22 GDPR.
